William Johnson, an entrepreneurial freed slave known as the "Barber of Natchez," resided in this historic home in the mid-nineteenth century. On display at the William Johnson House is a 14-volume diary kept by the man, recounting his daily toils as a prominent African-American; a unique and important part of American history. The historic residence part of the Natchez Historical Park, but is located just blocks from the river near downtown.
